Jazztopad is placed under the umbrella of Wroclaw Philharmonic and most of the concerts take place at the philharmonic hall. For the last four years, in November, the festival has showcased Polish and international jazz artists.

World premieres, legendary musicians and unique line-ups blending jazz with classical and baroque music - the 6th edition of Jazztopad festival opens on the 6th of November.
First weekend features Wayne Shorter with his amazing quartet that has been leading the jazz scene for the last ten years. Two days later another jazz virtuoso Bill Frisell will present a project inspired by German painter Gerhard Richter.
World premiere of the “Waterfalls” – a piece commissioned by Jazztopad festival will open the second weekend. Terje Rypdal – Norwegian guitar giant and composer wrote a composition for a symphony orchestra and guitar. Second half will combine baroque and jazz trios. “Two worlds” will find common ground to explore the art of improvisation.
An European initiative JazzPlaysEurope created to support up-and-coming musician is launching it’s first LABORATORY. Seven musicians and composers will join forces in Dortmund to work together for several days. Jazz LABORATORY will visit six European countries including Wroclaw.
The final concert welcomes back the one and only Kenny Wheeler. This time this celebrated trumpet player composed pieces for Wroclaw-based Lutoslawski Quartet and an incredible vocalist Diana Torto - world premiere. Second half will present specially created big-band performing Wheeler’s intricate arrangements (Polish premiere!).
